RSA is saddened to announce the passing of Lynda Oxley, FASC Program Manager and long-time FedEx employee.

LYNDA LEE (LATHAM) OXLEY 



Lynda Lee Latham Oxley, 66, died on Sunday, October 23, 2011 due to complications from Idiopathic Pulmonary Fibrosis. Born in Norfolk, VA in 1945, Lynda was raised in Memphis. She graduated from Lausanne School for Girls and attended the University of Tennessee, Knoxville, where she was a member of Delta Delta Delta sorority. Lynda was preceded in death by her parents, Frank A. and Rosamond Latham of Memphis. She is survived by her daughter and son and their spouses, Lisa R. Poteete of Franklin, TN, and Josh and David Latham Oxley of Germantown, TN and Aimee; five grandchildren, Latham Taylor Poteete, Mckenzie Lee Poteete, William Mack Poteete, Drew Peter Oxley and Jake Latham Oxley. She also has one brother, Frank A. Latham and his wife, Dorothy, of Broomfield, CO and a nephew, Alex Latham of Longmont, CO. Lynda started working for Federal Express in 1978 and continued to work for FedEx at the time of her death. While there, she was affectionately called “mama” not only by the employees who worked for her , but her co-workers. Her years at FedEx were primarily in Management, Sales and Marketing. Her “purple and orange passion” was recognized by her customers, her fellow employees and her management. Recognized for numerous achievements and awards throughout her tenure, she was the first Federal Express three year recipient of the President’s Club Hall of Fame and a recipient of the distinguished Five Star Award. A funeral for closure will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday, October 26, at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church, 8151 Poplar Avenue, Germantown, TN. True to Lynda’s wishes, do not dress up, be comfortable and wear a name tag that designates you as a work friend, neighborhood friend, manicurist friend or a lifelong friend. In lieu of flowers, Lynda had requested that donations be made to Baptist Hospital’s Lung Transplant Center ot to IPF Research to aid those still living with this debilitating disease.
