DHL to Host the 54th Annual Air Carriers Purchasing Conference
As a Customer, Vendor and Airline – DHL is Best Positioned to Sponsor This Premiere Industry Conference
PLANTATION, Fla.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--DHL, the world’s leading logistics company, is co-hosting the 54th annual Air Carriers Purchasing Conference (ACPC) in Detroit, Michigan on August 14-17, 2010. This year DHL, Millennium International/Aero Express and the ACPC will bring together domestic and international airlines and hundreds of aviation supply companies for airline industry roundtable discussions, breakout sessions with suppliers and an aviation networking forum.
“DHL is honored to serve as the co-host of the 2010 ACPC”
.DHL has been an active participant in the ACPC since 1997. This conference has given DHL and other companies in the aviation industry the opportunity to meet with a countless number of suppliers and other airlines to exchange ideas, find supply sources and learn about best practices in the industry. This year’s conference is of particular importance to the aviation and air freight industries because international trade is rapidly expanding, rising at an annualized pace of 22 percent in the first quarter of 2010. In addition, air cargo, which is typically three months ahead of the market, is continuing to rise ahead of international trade.
“As a major customer to all the airlines, as a vendor and as an airline ourselves, DHL has a unique perspective on the industry and has a major dependence on the productive future of aviation,” said Gary Schultheis, DHL Global Forwarding’s senior vice president airfreight Americas. “I am excited to share our distinctive viewpoint and industry expertise during the conference’s keynote address.”
DHL, as a full-service logistics company, offers a suite of solutions and services for commercial airlines and the aerospace industry. Through its Global Forwarding division, which handles air and ocean freight, heavy weight domestic, and customs brokerage services, DHL provides logistics and supply chain solutions from manufacturing to aftermarket for the aviation industry. Additionally, DHL Same Day provides airlines and suppliers with door-to-door delivery of time critical parts and supplies 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Recognizing the complexity of global logistics and transport, DHL simplifies the process with its Global Customer Solutions unit, a specialist organization that works in close relationship with customers to provide dedicated and personal support all day, every day.
“DHL is honored to serve as the co-host of the 2010 ACPC,” said Craig Stechman, aviation purchasing manager, DHL Aviation Americas and ACPC airline chairperson. “As the world’s leading logistics provider as well as an airline operator, DHL is in a unique position of being able to identify with both sides of the conference. DHL accomplishes this by acting as a procurer of aircraft parts and services for our airlines and also by acting as a purveyor of logistics solutions directly to the airlines and aviation suppliers attending this conference.”
In addition to the business portion of the conference, the association is launching its inaugural ‘ACPC Gives Back’ campaign. On August 14th, this networking event will allow conference participants to stuff 1000 backpacks with school supplies, hats and gloves for under privileged first graders in the Detroit Public School District. The ACPC is also collecting donations from conference participants for a silent auction that will benefit the Detroit Public School District. So far, the ACPC has collected over $25,000 in donations.
