Nearly 1,500 Shippers Can’t Be Wrong!
USPS Approved Shipper Program Helps Businesses Grow
WASHINGTON, DC, October 9, 2007 — Nearly 1,500 small businesses nationwide are seeing the benefits of the U.S. Postal Service (USPS) Approved Shipper Program, an 18-month old initiative that allows mailing and shipping stores to sell USPS products and services.
More than 1,450 establishments now take part in the program — which has grown continuously since its nationwide launch in April, 2006. The USPS Approved Shipper Program can help you to:
- grow your business by offering customers a wider selection of shipping and mailing products and services
- build customer loyalty with convenient, one-stop shopping for all their mailing and shipping needs
- leverage the trusted and well-known U.S. Postal Service name; and
- take advantage of the program’s no-fee license agreement, plus free signage and other USPS materials.
Approved Shippers sell postal products and services and hold prepaid or postage-affixed letters and packages for USPS to collect. To participate, a store must have a postage meter or a PC Postage account, ensure physical security of the mail, display USPS signage as directed, comply with Aviation Mail Security and Hazardous Materials requirements, follow the USPS Products Guide for USPS Approved Shippers, and accept Click-N-Ship® and other prepaid packages. Products and services may be offered at Post Office prices, or the Approved Shipper may add a surcharge.
Once your no-fee license agreement has been signed and approved by postal management in your area, you will receive a start-up kit. It contains two 8 ½” x 11” counter cards, an 18” x 25” menu board, a 16”x 23 ½” window cling, the USPS Approved Shipper Aviation Mail Security and HazMat training DVD, “Keep the Mail Safe” and “Suspicious Mail or Packages” posters, and the USPS Product Guide in both hard copy and CD formats.
The Postal Service wishes to thank everyone in the shipping and mailing industry who has given their full support to this program. Working together, USPS and mailers are improving their relationship and providing critical information on Aviation Mail Security and Hazardous Materials requirements to Approved Shippers and their customers.
We look forward to continuing to grow the program — and your business!
