UPS getting service back to normal in hurricane damaged areasAtlanta Business Chronicle
United Parcel Service Inc. has brought back package delivery service on a limited basis to most geographic areas ravaged by Hurricane Ike, it reported Tuesday.
Every UPS (NYSE: UPS) facility in the hurricane impact area went back on line Monday and is providing limited service. No facilities or delivery vehicles suffered any substantial damage from the storm, Atlanta-based UPS also noted. The company is trying to deliver premium air and ground packages where local authorities allow it.
UPS expects to get back to normal operations by the end of the week, but there are some delays to be expected due to business closures and damage to infrastructure. In the meantime, UPS is asking customers to contact any recipients in Texas or Louisiana to make sure they can get deliveries. |
