Suspicious package in Shreveport turns out to be shoes
From staff reports • June 2, 2010
A suspicious package reported on a United Parcel Service drop box at a north Shreveport business center turned out to be a pair of shoes.
The Shreveport Fire Department bomb squad and Shreveport police responded to a call about the package just after 3 p.m. today at D&W Business Center on Hawn Avenue.
The squad used a robot to X-ray the package and discovered that it contained shoes.
The package apparently sat on top of the drop box all day, causing a concerned citizen to call authorities, said Fred Sanders, a Shreveport Fire Department spokesman.
"UPS didn't pick it up because it had a bar code for the U.S. Postal Service," Sanders said. "It appears someone purchased shoes online and was returning them."
